Everyday is clean up day, every tiny piece MATTERS! YOU MATTER!

Wednesday 14th Feb

Hi humans join me caring for Country. I coordinate regular events, I welcome everybody. Let's do this together!

1976 and 2006. Yuk, your gonna pick up other peoples rubbish!

Tuesday 13th Aug
When I was around 8yrs old, I was very upset by the rubbish on the street. I told my parents, they handed me a rubbish bag... 'well pick it up then' my mother said.
So off I went, very quickly my bag was overflowing and there was so much more rubbish to collect.
Somewhat overwhelmed but also feeling a small sense of accomplishment, I returned home.
I felt the job was too big for little me.
Flash forward to 1990, two wonderful people had created Clean Up Australia - Kim McKay AO and Ian Kiernan, AO !
I organised my kids and the neighbourhood kids to clean up our street and nearest playground.... this was my first official Clean Up Australia event, I was hooked!

2020 Oct spOOky community clean up

Tuesday 13th Aug
Halloween is delightful and destructive, it's wonderful that it creates a sense of community, and that it brings families out on the street, and encourages humans to have fun together! Unfortunately one of the downsides is the pollution created in the craze. This was the motivation behind my spOOky clean up! Next Halloween please tread lightly on Mother Earth, and take all your rubbish home.

2020 Nov. Clean up, bags filled with dog poo!

Tuesday 13th Aug
gloves, masks, mini-hand sanitizer plastic bottles, wet-wipes...
our poor earth...
during the pandemic years I did regular clean-ups
it gave me hope

2021 March Kids need ALERT adult supervision during clean ups

Tuesday 13th Aug
Often it is the child that asks the adult, can we do a clean up?
Yay for children they know what our earth needs!
Make sure you always have protective clothing on for clean ups! Gloves, long pants, long sleeves, a hat, fully enclosed non-slip shoes that can get mucky.

2022 August. clean up, woweeeeeeee what a MESS!

Tuesday 13th Aug
Often community members bring areas of concern to my attention, so we focus our clean up to these areas. This was an area between a 7 Eleven and a high school, the rubbish was NEXT LEVEL!

2023 March. THANK YOU EVERYONE!

Tuesday 13th Aug
Unfortunately I was unable to participate in person, sometimes you just can't be everywhere!
I am so grateful to all humans all over Australia and the world who work to care for Mother Earth.
Check out the photo... someone left their enormous mirror behind.... WTF!

2020 Dec. Boxing Day Clean Up

Tuesday 13th Aug
THANK YOU PATRICK!!!!!!
Please consider the impact on Mother Earth and all her creatures when purchasing Xmas Gifts and preparing for Xmas and NYE.... you can always try something different... traditions can change.... tread gently, take care...

From City of Greater Geelong, disposal of E-waste & Vapes

Wednesday 4th Sep
Helpful up-to-date info from City of Greater Geelong
Please make sure that any E-waste, such as Vapes, are not put into any of your kerbside bins.
Due to the risk of these types of items causing fires in the back of the trucks, It is against the law to place e-waste in kerbside bins in Victoria.
If the battery can be removed safely it can be taken to one of many local battery drop off points.
If the battery cannot be removed, you can take them to one of our two Resource Recovery Centres, for safe disposal

THANK YOU TO Legendary Lyn and SUPER Sandy!
