Between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, it is traditional to visit a body of water and symbolically throw our sins (in the form of bread) into the water. Reverse Tashlich, a global movement started by Repair the Sea, turns symbolism into action by removing human "sin" from the water - cleaning up our waterways from plastics and other garbage that threaten marine wildlife and ecosystems. As part of our Reverse Tashlich, we're not only going to clean up a beach, we're also going to participate in a citizen science activity with AUSMAP - the Australian Microplastic Assessment Project - by conducting a survey of microplastics on the beach to help identify hotspots of microplastic pollution.
