We're excited to launch five brand new lesson plans in collaboration with our Education Partner, Unilever and Cool.org.

Designed to help students connect classroom learning with real-world environmental challenges. These engaging, curriculum-aligned resources use data, systems thinking, and problem-solving activities to explore the impact of waste and litter on our planet.

By sparking critical thinking and empowering students to take meaningful action, the lesson plans are the perfect companion to your School Clean Up this Spring.

35+ Years of Trusted Community Leadership

As one of Australia’s largest environmental organisations, Clean Up Australia has mobilised over 23 million volunteers and built strong partnerships with councils, schools, and local communities — offering teachers credibility and confidence in what they deliver.

Student Empowerment at Its Core

This guide fosters student agency, helping young Australians understand the why and lead the how. It’s about more than Clean Ups — it’s about growing active, informed members of the community who take responsibility for their environment.

The Educator’s Guide is available in both printable and digital formats, and includes:

  • Curriculum-aligned lesson plans, designed in conjunction with Cool.org
  • Curriculum-aligned activities
  • A Schools Toolkit packed with resources to run a Clean Up
  • A ‘7 Days of Sustainability’ challenge
  • Promotional materials
  • Flexible options to run a one-day event or build a sustained unit of learning around waste, litter and sustainability
  • Support for Schools Clean Up Day planning

National Campaign, Local Action

Schools are part of a nationally coordinated movement, while maintaining full flexibility to plan a Clean Up event that suits their local community and learning goals. Whether it’s Clean Up Australia Day or 'Everyday Clean Up', schools can take part on their own terms.

Action-First Approach

Australia’s waste challenges continue to grow. Now, more than ever, it’s time to support solutions which move us towards a circular economy – where everything is a resource, and there is no such thing as waste.
