Clean Up St Ives

By Alizee Vanderveken Join Me

Come along, help pick up litter from Village Green, St Ives.
This is a family friendly event where all ages are welcome.
The event is free but it is compulsory to sign in on the day. Please proceed to the registration desk.

Contact St Ives Towards Sustainability Inc at hellositsgroup@gmail.com or visit our Facebook page and/or Facebook group.

Clean Up Australia supporters will be provided with:
- gloves kindly donated by Clean Up Australia
- buckets that have been donated by the lovely owner of Patio@putney, 83 Charles St Putney
- pick up tools sponsored by the Environmental Levy Grant Program and Net Zero Communities, Ku-ring-gai Council
- activity guidelines.

Please bring:
- sturdy enclosed footwear
- drinking water in reusable bottle - please ensure you keep yourself hydrated
- sun protection (long sleeved shirt, hat, reef friendly sunscreen, sunglasses)

You will receive a reusable bag made by the amazing volunteers at Boomerang Bags (while stock lasts). Thank you so much to our sponsors! We really appreciate it!

Please come on time for the briefing at 9. We will clean the area as thoroughly as possible for about 1 hour. Come back to the meeting point to empty your buckets and go back to pick up some more. When the time is up we will weigh the collected litter. Then we will empty the bags on a giant tarpaulin that was donated to the association by one of the resident and we will sort and count the rubbish by category so that we can contribute to litter research. Data will be sent to Clean Up Australia.

We completely understand if you cannot stay for the whole event. We are just grateful for any help we can get.

Please share this event with your friends, colleagues, neighbours and family members.

Feel free to bring your 10 cents bottles if you would like to donate them to us for recycling and supporting this important environmental cause.

Why should you #StepUptoCleanUp?
Picking up litter can make a huge difference as it prevents it from reaching our waterways, as well as the ocean. It ensures our soils don’t get polluted and that it doesn’t kill our wildlife. This isn’t only about picking up litter. It’s also about raising awareness, promoting environmental protection, recycling and safe rubbish disposal. By joining this event, you are also inspiring others to take further steps towards sustainability.

Please say no to soy fish containers, plastic bags, plastic straws and plastic bottles as a start. Bring your own coffee cup to the café and if you have forgotten it, get the takeaway coffee with no lid or give yourself a break and sit down and have your coffee in a porcelain cup. You can make a huge difference for this planet by changing some small every day habits.

Thank you on behalf of the planet. This is for us and the future of our children. We are looking forward to seeing you on the day.
