Oatley Flora & Fauna - Lime Kiln Bay Site 1
Oatley Flora and Fauna Conservation Society (OFF) is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year and it has run CUAD sites since 1989. Lime Kiln Bay Wetlands are important for a wide range of wildlife and OFF has long promoted their environmental values. We have run a public education campaign to encourage
litter reduction in the surrounding gutters that drain into the wetlands, and monitor the amount of rubbish in the wetlands. We also undertake Streamwatch sampling upstream of the wetlands.
Lime
Kiln Bay receives a lot of rubbish washed down from an industrial site and
shopping centre in a busy road in Mortdale and we have lobbied Georges River Council to improve mechanisms to capture litter before it washes into the wetlands, including mangroves.

We recommend gumboots or other waterproof footwear for wading in the wetlands.
