We are a preschool who's slogan is "Learning to Love Our Natural World" and that is exactly what we do, every day. Located across the road from Heathcote National Park, we walk on country regularly and notice rubbish / litter often. We discuss the impact of rubbish, learn about ways to help reduce waste (and re-use and recycle) and we have a worm farm, chickens and compost as well as recycling stations. While on walks, we don't always have the right tools to collect rubbish so having a kit will be very useful and a great step in our environmental care learning journey. It is never too early to start learning about caring for our planet, and preschoolers are very proactive and willing future custodians.
