OUR CLEAN UP PACK HAS ARRIVED - First Park AFL field PCYC

Thursday 24th Oct Yesterday our safety gloves, bags and check in sheet arrived in the mail.  We spent an hour cleaning up our AFL fields where we train on Greenslopes street Cairns.  There was takeaway rubbish, cigarette butts and bottles.  We were excited to start our volunteer sessions today.  Thanks Clean Up Australia for our protective gear! Goomboora Park Monday 4-11-24

Monday 4th Nov Monday the 4-11.24 our first park Goomboora Park.  What a lovely park. This park was pretty clean apart from a lot of small plastics and takeaway rubbish. Happy to say we filled our first bag!  Brea and Atalia  Share

15/11/24 - RAINY MOUNTAIN PARK, SMiITHFIELD

Friday 15th Nov This afternoon we spent an hour walking the paths at Rainy Mountain Park in Smithfield. It’s a large park including a dog park. We filled out bag with mostly takeaway rubbish, cigarette butts and small plastics.  Share

18/11/24 - Hockey Avenue Park

Monday 18th Nov This was a local suburbian park in Smithfield and it has been the work park so far. A lot of take away rubbish and plastic containers. There was even a whole car part!  Share

25/11/24 - Brinsmead Bears Baseball Park

Monday 25th Nov Today we spent an house walking through this large park. It was the cleanest park we’ve chosen yet but we still filled our bag with drink bottles and wrappers. We found that beside the road had the most rubbish we think from passing cars. There was also busted balloons as this park gets used alot for birthday parties.  Share

9-12-24 Trinity Beach

Monday 9th Dec This afternoon we walked the entire beach. We collected lots of small plastics, cigarette butts, bottle tops and general takeaway type rubbish. It was disappointing to be collecting this stuff from such a beautiful location. We were glad we could tidy this beach today. We got lots of comments from people about our job well done.  Share

19/12/24 - PALM COVE BEACH

Saturday 21st Dec Today we met at beautiful Palm Cove.  It was a little disappointing to see the rubbish here.  Small plastics,  cigarette butts and even a champagne bottle!  We did enjoy the lovely view for an hour and then we had a ice cream after! Share

JCU Bus Terminal

Thursday 2nd Jan This afternoon we went to JCU. The bus terminal was filthy! We spent an hour picking up a lot of general rubbish and lots of tiny plastics,  We cleaned all the garden beds and underneath the seating.  This was by far our biggest clean so far.  Share

Tiger Park

Wednesday 8th Jan Atalia and I both had AFL training today so we decided to come early and spend an hour cleaning up the car park and fields.  The drain had the most rubbish aswell as general fast food rubbish in the car park. There was dog poo on the field .. yuck! We even cleaned that up.  Share

Westcourt DFO Car Park

Saturday 22nd Feb It has been very wet in Cairns for the last month or so.  We really needed to do a clean up so we chose and undercover car park area.  We did get some breaks in the rain and did also clean beside the roadway.  Lots of cigarette butts, general plastics and an old blanket.. ewwww Share

Redlynch village green

Thursday 6th Mar We spent the hour cleaning this park, it was a lovely shady park with a great play ground and it was pretty clean but there was still a lot of cigarette butts, small plastics and take away rubbish.  Share

Tom Dooley Park

Friday 21st Mar It has been another wet weather patch in Cairns but today there was a break in the weather so we took the opportunity to do another clean at Tom Dooley Park Smithfield.  There was a service station next door so we noticed a lot of snack rubbish has blown over in to this park.  Wrappers and cigarette butts mostly but after our hour it was all tidy.
