Tweed River Clean Up
For the last 5 years the Tweed Gold Coast Freedivers Club has been proud to organise this event with the help of local businesses Tweed Eco Cruises and Ecomist as well as Tweed Shire Council.We welcome all members of the community to join us in removing rubbish from the river, the majority of our work is underwater but we still need people to assist loading and unloading boats, walking the river banks, registering volunteers and cooking the bbq.
Our main area of focus will be around the Tweed Marina, Ivory Tavern, Jetty’s and under bridges.
We find a lot of shopping trolleys, beer bottles, abandon crap traps and car tyres as well as some very unusual stuff.
If you are a capable swimmer and have snorkeling abilities we would love your help, please bring all of your own dive gear and especially a float and flag so that boats can see you clearly. Please don’t bring spearguns or hand spears as we will be in areas that prohibit that.
